Last Post

Hi everyone!! First I need to tell you that I am so happy because… THIS IS THE LAST POST on this blog!! :D Really, I hope that this is the last of my life at university, hahaha… Ok, today I will write about  my experience at the university English studies.

I believe that these courses are very important and necessary for us, the journalists; but also for anyone who wants to develop professionally in this world. Nevertheless, I have to tell you that my relationship with the English is between love and hate. First because in my childhood, I enjoyed to learn with adorable teachers, but really I didn’t learn. Then, I met an incredible teacher, but in other course, no at the school, he was the best teacher ever and incredibly it wasn’t his profession, he only lived in London and he learned English.

And now, my experience learning English at the university, I think that at the university all changed, right now is difficult for me because I feel that I lost the “basis” of learning. Besides, here, my learning process has depended heavily on teachers, and I had everything: goods and very bad! :/

About the use of blogs, really I thought that this was going to be very boring and difficult, but it was not. Surprisingly no! I think that this blog was a good tool for communication between us, the Universidad de Chile's students and the teacher because we could know us a little bit better.

I enjoyed write all the weeks on this website, although sometimes I didn't have idea of what write, especially when the teacher said: free theme, hahaha... I think that this blog helped in my english, but plus of write was the reading of teacher's blog.

I believe that I have a lot to improve, but more in the oral part. I struggle and stutter, I forget grammar and many words. I don’t know why, but I get very nervous. I think that only I can improves with practice.

Really I don’t use English outside of the university, sometimes I listen to music or read some articles, but no more than that. I know that It is wrong, because the "practice makes perfect" :(

Changes to my study programme

Hello classmates and teacher! (And anyone who happens to read, hahaha). Ok, today I will to tell you about some changes to my study programme.

First is necessary clarify that I am journalism student and I am in the last year (the fifth year) of the Universidad de Chile. Although many people think that this university is one of the best from Chile, in the journalism’s career there are many problems in the administration and the curriculum.

While changes have been made to the curriculum, it has not been enough!!

If we talk about the subjects that we have to study, I believe that they are very insufficient because we have subjects left over and others very necessary that we have not! For example, courses such as history, economics, media’s history from Chile or Latin America, we don’t have it. About the equipment of the university, is insufficient, there was a time when the demand was great and they were not enough for the students. Therefore, the use of technology is not the best; because this happens at all levels of equipment :(

About the workload and lenght of studies I think that, on the one hand, the workload we have in first and fifh year is very very lightest in fact compared to others years in the same career.

In my opinion the length of studies in Journalism are excessive. Actually our career lasts five years and I think that easily it can last only three or four years at most. I believe that, for the same, the teaching methods don’t work, because all the curriculum It is designed for we have to pay all this time. Today, the universities don’t have the real plans studies, they only think about profit.
In the ICEI from Universidad de Chile not even there are good buildings and infrastructure, only the last year the institute is beginning to improve it this point. Right now we have more classrooms, computers and audiovisual equipment like photo cameras and video cameras,  editing rooms and the radio.

Anyway, there is much to improve!!

Eat, eat, eat, E A T !

Hi everyone! Today with my classmates we decided write about us favorite food, but the teacher decided that we should write about “a meal I like to cook for myself” and I don’t know cook!!!! I just eat!! Hahahaha O:) Ok, I cook but rarely because I don’t like cook anything, I enjoy following recipes.

Although I know that is not fine, I cook many doughs! With my friends we love the junk food! My
favorite? The pizzas! And we have prepared until the dough, is not complicated. So, as you will realize, I do not cook food dishes. Ever I did risotto, noodles, lasagna, but not regularly.

Then, I will to tell you about my pizzas ;)

When with my friends we meet, we always do something to eat. Once we decided to play with flour and made dough for pizza. It is very easy and simple.

First, we mixture the flour (400 grams approx.) with water (125 mm.), oil and salt. And then baked for 20 or 25 minutes.

Then, you can add whatever they want: salsa, ham, tomato, cheese (obviously), olive, oregano, etc. Really you can add many things, sometimes with my boyfriend and brother in law we do it with pineapple, delicious!

I know that it is not very healthy, but I cannot resist! Hahaha O:)

I hope you can do it, it is very easy and delicious. You will not regret!!! ;)

POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Post graduate studies? Really? Someone think in this? I just want out of from university!! But, understand me… I am journalism student and this year I finish my career, so I don’t want more war!

Nevertheless, because of my love for the music and the art, I thought in some post graduate. I don’t have decided yet, but I could take up on PHD studies in Social Networks or Cultural management, like producer or I don’t know now.

I just know that, I believe that, I would do where the people speak Spanish, because I am not so good at English, I can read and I understand but it is difficult for me. Buenos Aires in Argentina, in Mexico or Spain I think that are very good countries for me. Moreover, in Spain for example, I could know Europe!

I think that I could go to Europe with friends, first to travelling and then I stay me there and I could study something. Maybe full time or study plus work, or get some kind of visa or scholarships, really I don’t know. I believe that this topic is complicates me a bit, hahahaha…

I would do this to travel and to perfect me on cultural issues, to be music journalist or work with musicians, groups or band... or I could be Cultural management in anywhere in the world :)

My future job =0

I am journalism student and this year I finish my career. First, I have to tell you that one of the things that I enjoy most is travelling. So, I always thought that with this career I will could do it. For example, the sport journalist, they travel all time! For Olympic Games, Cup World, “Copa America”, etc. And I love football (Colo-Colo), tennis, artistic gym, etc. Then, I thought it would be easy to choose my work area; but now (since 2009), besides of travelling I love the music.

I met many bands and national artist and I loved that surroundings, really I am very confused because I love the sporty journalism and the musical journalism. I think that I could work like manager or the band’ social networks and doing press to them.

In this moment of my life, I believe that I would prefer the musical journalism because I like concerts, the night, the events, produce things and I have contacts, hahaha…
I think that it would be easy for me (and I would have my office to use sometimes (just sometimes!). Furthermore, in this area it is also possible to travel; a little difficult, but is not impossible!
I haven’t decided yet, but I could take up on PHD studies in Social Networks or Cultural management, like producer or I don’t know...

My little Sanwish

Yes. We have decided that today we will write about our pets, but it is other topic that complicates me a bit because I don’t have a pet, I have two in my house and one where my boyfriend. So, today I will to tell you about Sanwish, the boyfriend’s cat!

He is so big, as a hairball! And I have to brush his many times a week and my clothes stay full of cat hair! But I love him, although he is a fierce cat, really. (Only sometimes).

I met to Sanwish two years ago, but he has five years old. He arrived too small to Cristian’s home. They live at an apartment and the cat does not come out of there! He is not very independent as any other cat, because he is very fearful.

I have to tell you that I don’t like cats!! But, he is the only, hahaha… It is true, the only! Because cats scare me, especially his claws.

I love to Sanwish, he is the best heater (or “guatero” in Chile) when it’s cold, like now. Also he is a good alarm clock… when he has hungry.

I think that he’s very important for me, but now! because before I walked away for his claws.

English in my life

Is difficult when you have to tell you about languages that you don’t know, like the English for me, from Chile, where we only speak Spanish. I think is more difficult when you have that to lear for obligation, at the school for example.

I believe that proximity or distances geographical are the important factor, because if I have a family in other country with different languages I will wish to learn (at least me), but I insist this distance could be good or no. For example, I have a friend Carolaine, she lived in United State and she hates the English because the travel it was a big change in her life: new home, new friends, new languages, all it when she was little.

I think that my relationship with the English is between love and hate. First because, in my childhood, I enjoyed to learn with adorable teachers, but really I didn’t learn. Then, I met a incredible teacher, but in other course, no at school, he was the best teacher ever and incredibly it wasn’t his profession, he only lived in London and he learned English.

At university all changed, right now is difficult for me because I feel that I lost the “basis” of learning.

Holidays

OMG, I need say that this topic complicates me a bit, because in the last year I have traveled a lot (I’ve been very lucky). So, I am between the travel with my dad to Miami Beach, U.S.A. or the that I did with my friend Daniela to Argentina and Brazil, but I will tell you the last: summer 2016 à Buenos Aires à Florianópolis à Sao Paulo.

San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina

This holidays was last summer, from February 1 to 21; three exact weeks with my friend Daniela Jorquera, where we toured part of Argentina (Uspallata and some neighborhoods in Buenos Aires) and Brazil (Sao Paulo and Santa Catarina, mainly Florianópolis).

That time, we met many people –more in Brazil- and we made many friends with whom we plan to travel in the next holidays.
We met in "Floripa", but they are from Argentina, Germany and Porto Alegre (Brazil).
I think that precisely why were my best holidays, because I made friends and, after months, we keep in contact and we plan to do things together. Although in Sao Paulo also we met several people, our friends from Florianopolis are the more important.

Brazil

Although I already know this country, I would love to return to Brazil. The past summer I went to two places from this big land: Sao Paulo and Florianópolis.

Although I loved Florianópolis, some friends were in Rio de Janeiro and your around and they left me wanting to keep traveling in Brazil. This country is so big that really I wish know more cities like Recife, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro –of course- the Amazons, etc.

Really I want visit again. Because of many reasons, but mostly, because the drinks are the best of the world! Hahahaha… No no, but seriously the people are lovely, his language – portuguese - is easy to understand and communicate with them (if they speak slow).

The multiculture and the street art from Brazil you can find it in everywhere! Graffities, sculptures and artistic interventions, such as in the Carnival with the "blocos", but always, all the year, there are activities.

Parque Ibirapuera, Sao Paulo

The sandwichs, OMG! What wonder! I would come back to eat, hahaha. Sincerely, I want travel being a looker and learn, meeting people, do friends, etc. Enjoy the experience.
